LEGO Systems, Inc.
North American Corporate Headquarters

Enfield, CT

The North American Corporate Headquarters of LEGO Systems, Inc. consists of a new office complex and product display center. The 103,000 SF of new construction is an addition to the existing research, development and distribution buildings on the LEGO campus. An international team of architects and designers was assembled to design the building.

The challenge was to integrate the MEP systems into the building while enhancing the corporate vision of an open space and an open creative sense. The solution was to provide elegant and dramatic lighting effects, such as bouncing light off the ceilings, to provide the feel of a clean and unlimited space. Many other interesting features were designed into this project such as a video conferencing center that is used quiet frequently to communicate with the world headquarters in Denmark. Product display and training rooms required unique lighting and whisper-quiet HVAC systems for presentation purposes. The automatic temperature control system is state of the art technology that allows the building operators to monitor the system from off-site and provide continual energy efficient operation. The unusually high bays created special lighting challenges where a hi/low dimming system was provided for energy savings and the automated systems required special attention to locations of underground feeders so that the in-floor sensing systems could read proper signals.
