Yale University
Pierson and Davenport Colleges
New Haven, CT
The adjoining Pierson and Davenport Colleges at Yale University, residential colleges for undergraduate students, were originally built concurrently in 1933. The renovations at both of these Colleges included comprehensive life cycle renovations, utility upgrades, compliance with life-safety codes and accessibility regulations, dormitory upgrades, and improvements to dining, faculty, and activity areas. New spaces at Pierson College include exercise rooms, music rehearsal rooms, a computer lab, and an additional 24 beds. New spaces at Davenport College include a theatre, basketball court, computer lab and additional beds. The sharing of major activity spaces between Pierson and Davenport Colleges takes advantage of an opportunity presented by the linked basements of the two Colleges. The design provides more substantial and refined spaces than either College could accommodate if they were totally self contained. BVH provided civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering services. |
